Using Eos to broadcast audio sources other than your iPod

With Eos, you can broadcast music from your iPod or connect to Eos’ auxiliary analog input to broadcast audio from any audio source (XM or Sirius Satellite radio, San Disk or Zune MP3 players, computers, CD players, stereos…anything with an audio output. )

Here’s how to do it:

  2. Plug the other end of the cable into the headphone jack of your audio source.
  3. Press the source button on the face of the Eos Base Station

Audio from your source will be routed the base station speakers and transmitted to all your Eos wireless stereo speakers.

Tuning Eos for your own ear

We all have a different ear and likes and dislikes for how something should sound. Does the sound from your Eos have too much treble, not enough bass or just not the sound you want?  Try the equalizer built into your iPod to craft the sound of Eos into your own liking.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Beginning from the iPod main menu (iPod” in the screen header) select “Settings”
  2. Scroll down and select “EQ” (this will bring up a list of preset equalizer settings from Acoustic to Vocal booster)
  3. Scroll down to an equalizer setting that you’d like to try and select it.

Sample several equalizer settings until you find the one that sounds the best for your ear, your room and your music.

Using Eos with your home stereo

Want to use Eos to output audio to your home stereo speakers while transmitting music to your wireless speakers around your house?

Note: Because the jacks on a home stereo require RCA style plugs you’ll need a stereo mini to RCA “Y” cable. If you don’t have one, pick one up at Radio Shack or any electronics retailer.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Bring your Eos base station over to your stereo and power it up
  2. Press “MUTE” on the your Eos base station
  3. Plug the mini jack end of the cable into your iPod’s headphone jack
  4. Plug the right/left channel RCA plugs into an unused input of your home stereo
  5. Press play on your iPod
  6. On your home stereo, select the input source to match that of where you plugged the cable from your iPod into (i.e. “TAPE”)

When you can hear your iPod form the your home stereo’s speakers you’ll know you’ve got it.  Even though you’ve muted the base station speakers, the music from you iPod will be transmitted to all of your Eos stereo wireless speakers.

Using Eos outdoors

Eos loves the outdoors as much as you do! Most outdoor wall sockets have a weather flap on them; so you will most likely need to remove the power supply form the Eos wireless speaker’s cabinet to make the connection.  If the power adapter interferes with the wall socket’s weather flap you may have to use an extension cord.  Once connected, you’re ready to roll.  Eos tough construction will stand up to most weather conditions, but it’s a good idea to take it in at the end of your day.

Note: as with any AC powered electrical item, never immerse Eos in water.
